Hi,
I’m a Korean American illustrator based in Vienna, VA, just outside Washington, D.C. I’ve lived in the U.S. for more than twenty years and raised my son here. My experience includes licensing, design, and education. I love narrative illustration and create vivid, dreamlike images with watercolor on digital wood grain. As a debut author-illustrator, I’m excited to share my own stories.
I earned my MFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. My work has earned awards like the Young Blood Illustration from Applied Art Magazine, the Low Country Artist Award from the Telfair Museum Art Fair, and Merit Awards at the 3×3 Children’s Book Show Annual and Illustration West.
When I’m not painting, you might find me hiking the Blue Ridge Mountain trails, people-watching at a local cafe, or trying out new recipes in the kitchen—it’s edible. I also enjoy hosting a Friday small group at my house, where I cook a homemade meal for friends and let someone else wash the dishes!
My works were also featured in the COEX Winter Festival, Savannah College of Art and Design, Gelsinger Licensing Group, Grain Valley Publishing, DeepKids books, Applied Arts magazine, Rosengart Gallery Fine Art & Gifts, SCBWI Southern Breeze, SCBWI Mid Atlantic, Illustration West by Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, CMYK, 3×3, Creative Quarterly, What’s Up Annapolis, and so on. I worked for American Greetings, Working Class Studio SCAD, and Deep Center as an intern as well.
